Google just removed its own Search button. How does your brand get found now?

Last month, Google replaced the familiar “Search” button on Android with “Ask Google.” It sounds like a minor UI tweak. It isn’t.
AI Mode — now Google’s default search experience — has passed 100 million monthly users. And here’s the number that should make every business owner sit up: 93% of those searches end without a single click to any website. No visit. No traffic. No opportunity to make a first impression.
Compare that to 43% with the old AI Overviews, and you can see how quickly the rules have changed.
So where does that leave the businesses that built their marketing around page-one rankings? Scrambling, mostly. But there’s a different way to think about it.
Google’s AI isn’t pulling answers from thin air. It’s citing sources it trusts — organisations with clear, consistent positioning, credible content, and a brand that communicates what they actually do and why it matters. In other words, the businesses that have done the harder work of brand strategy, not just SEO.
For manufacturers, professional services firms, retailers, and public sector organisations in Lincolnshire and beyond — this is the moment to ask whether your brand is sending those signals clearly enough.
